Okay, what with the house fire, work, and health issues, we were VERY late getting to #freecomicbookday today. But, stoked to have gotten these two. #fcbd #guardiansofthegalaxy

Hopefully this week be the next major A.N.K.H. event. Perhaps the 2014 San Antonio City Championship?
And here they are, folks! Our 2014 Texas State Championship winners!
It’s been a heck of a year for the Alamo Network of Khet Hobbyists (A.N.K.H.). Just over a year ago, I contacted Innovention Toys, the makers of Khet: The Laser Game, inquiring about a supposedly ‘official’ state championship in East Texas. Little did I know that Luke Hooper, co-creator of Khet, would respond so readily! Turned out, there was no such thing as a sanctioned tournament ladder at the time, anywhere. Then he asked me to have A.N.K.H. help him create the very first one!
I was floored, but immediately jumped at the chance to grow our local Khet league into something greater. We held the first ever city championships at San Japan 2013, and at Dragon’s Lair Austin in late 2013, after announcing the birth of the series at ChimaeraCon 2013.
A year later, on April 5th at ChimaeraCon 2014, we finally held the first ever officially sanctionedTexas State Championship Tournament!
1st place: Andrew Enriquez- State Champion title, 1st place State trophy, Khet 2.0 board, Eyes of Horus Expansion, shirt, and $100!
2nd place: Ron Ziroby Romero- 2nd place trophy, Eyes of Horus Expansion, shirt and $50!
3rd place: Anthony Campos-Schmitt- 3rd place trophy, shirt, and $25.
Next year, the tournament ladder expands to include guaranteed invitational tournaments in all four major markets: Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston.

A.N.K.H. Secretary and Garber in Residence Bonnie Hritz created these awesome Khet: The Laser Game back patches from the crew t-shirts (that admittedly aren’t available in our sizes, lol) for the official A.N.K.H. lab coats. Awesome work, Bonnie! By the way, if you aren’t following her twitter feed, you’re missing out. Follow @nerdwyfe for the nerdy funny!
